DESTINATIONS

Pesaro

One city, many identities.

DISCOVER PESARO

One city, many identities.

Pesaro surprises visitors with the variety of its stories: from the cathedral’s mosaics and the Sforza family to Gioachino Rossini’s music, Art Nouveau architecture and contemporary art. Every period has left its mark.

Palaces, squares and historic streets reveal centuries of change. On the seafront, Villino Ruggeri embodies Italian Art Nouveau, while Arnaldo Pomodoro’s Sfera Grande has become a contemporary symbol of the city.

Pesaro is also a city of music, with the composer’s birthplace, Teatro Rossini and the Rossini Opera Festival. Beyond them lie the sea and Monte San Bartolo: this is a city to interpret as well as to visit.

From mosaics to the Sforza city

The cathedral’s layers of mosaics reveal Pesaro’s deep history. Piazza del Popolo and Rocca Costanza introduce further chapters about the city and the families who governed it.

Rossini and the city of music

A walk can pass Rossini’s birthplace and finish at the theatre, using music as a thread through the city. Any indoor visits are agreed in advance.

Art Nouveau and contemporary art

From Villino Ruggeri and seafront architecture to the Sfera Grande and works by Vangi in the historic centre: discover different ways of shaping and representing urban life.
